Urb-e or Urban electric is an electric scooter launched in 2014 and designed in Pasadena California by URBAN626, a company started in 2013. It is built by hand out of carbon fiber and aircraft aluminum and has the high quality like some of the most expensive cars because it is engineered by former Porsche Lead Engineer. Because Pasadena was the end station of the first highway in the USA and it is still a major transportation route for people going downtown, you can trust that Urb-e electric scooter designers really understand your need for much simpler travel so they made a scooter that is compact and manageable.
The designer’s idea was to create a device that you can always have access to, so it can save you the long walk after you get off the train or the bus because you can take Urb-e with you. People behind Urb-e are proud of each handmade and signed scooter they make, and the quality is best proven by the sold-out models on their internet page.
If you are in search of an alternative, low-cost mobile transportation, let me guide you through some of the Urb e brand`s products with my review.
Advantages Of Urb-e Electric Scooters
This A Practical Scooter
Urb-e is a lightweight scooter with only 30lbs and folds up easily so you can carry it around or on the subway, the bus and keep riding it to your work or home when you get off the public transportation. It has two leather straps for you to carry it more comfortable. You don’t have to park it; you just have to fold it up again and slide it under the desk or store it in the closet until you need it again.
This Scooter Has A Removable Battery
The power source called “Eddy”, after Thomas Edison, is removable and portable. It can simultaneously charge seven mobile devices and a laptop via both USB 2.0 and USB Type C ports so you can charge your phone or a tablet on the run or detach it to power up your devices. It has so much energy it can charge an iPhone 7 up to 40 times. The best thing is it is even allowed to be taken on a plane.
This Scooter Doesn`t Require A Driving License
The Urb-e electric scooter is in the category of low-speed vehicles so there is no need for a license, registration or insurance. That way, you save a lot of money you would usually spend on having a car or a gas scooter.
Urb-e Electric Scooter Reviews
Urb-e Sport Electric Scooter
This is a basic Urb-e model but it still looks impressive in the arctic white or gunmetal grey color, you can choose yourself. You can choose from many accessories like a cup holder for your coffee or a bell so everyone knows you’re arriving and of course for the safety of the pedestrians. You can choose a basket, a kickstand or even a trailer according to your needs. This Urb-e electric scooter is very small with only 30lbs, compact and foldable in just a few seconds. You don’t have to lurk around the parking or even worry if someone will steal it because you can store it under the desk. A great thing is it comes with a leather strap on it so you can easily carry it around. The top speed of this scooter is 14mph and it can cross the travel a distance of 16 miles on a single charge. This basic model does not have much suspension system but still has a shock dampening system which gives you some suspension for a less bumpy ride and rubber tires. I think it is a great choice if you have a short drive distance to your work or if you work in a big facility, this scooter can help you or your staff to get around.
Pros: This is the cheapest of Urb-e models but still offers you the high quality and design behind Urb-e brand.
It is very light and foldable so you can carry it everywhere with you.
Cons: The top speed and mileage are not impressive for getting around the city and could be bigger.
Urb-e Sport GT Electric Scooter
The second model from the Urb-e offer is this electric scooter which looks pretty cool and you can be sure it has cool performance and features. As you can see it in the picture, this model is a foldable unit so you can store it somewhere where it won’t get in the way when you aren’t using it. When it comes to the range or the speed, it is the same as the model above. The scooter can make a 16-mile trip on a single charge as long as you don’t hold the top speed (14mph) all the time. A scooter like this one comes with the seat so you can ride it while sitting down and that is the most recognizable Urb-e feature. Actually, that and the holes in the construction which makes them stand out in the crowd. The shock absorbing system makes the ride very comfortable even if you don’t ride on the pavement in the middle of the city. When you look at the model, it is pretty basic it doesn’t have many additional features but you can buy them separately. For example, you can buy headlights or the fenders for the scooter which makes it actually more expensive than some other models on the market.
Pros: The scooter is comfortable even on rugher terrains, not only on the pavement.
Cons: It is actually very expensive since you have to buy fenders, headlights etc.
Urb-e Pro Electric Scooter
Urb-e Pro has a more powerful motor and pneumatic tires which provide higher top speed, perfect for the more rough terrains. This Urb-e electric scooter model is great if you live in the suburbs where the roads are a bit rougher or if you like adventures rides. If you like fast rides, the speed of 20mph and 18 miles range will probably satisfy your needs. The handlebars are made of carbon and go all the way down to the wheel frame making the drive smoother as well as the upgraded coil suspension system for riding over bumps and holes. It weighs 35lbs but it is still foldable for easy storing and carrying into a car, bus or an Uber. It features the portable battery source and comes with a 1-year warranty. You choose between gunmetal grey or arctic white color and you can add insert sleeves, a basket, a kickstand or renders from accessories to customize the scooter to your needs.
Pros: This scooter is faster with a good suspension system so you can ride it on different terrains. The portable battery source is included for charging your phone and other devices.
Cons: The 1-year warranty seems too short for the price and promised quality of this scooter.
Urb-e Pro GT Electric Scooter
This Urb-e electric scooter is probably the most popular one because it comes with even better design and it is the heavy-duty product. The good thing about this scooter is that it is foldable, but the bad thing is that it is heavy. You can fold it but you can’t carry it around since it is 35lbs so the folding feature is only useful when you have to store it somewhere. The range and the top speed of the scooter are similar to the model above which means it is enough for you to get to work and back. That is OK because that is the sole purpose of this electric scooter (and many more models actually). There are two colors on the scooter and the holes in the construction make the scooter look amazing, but it is pricey. Especially since you have to buy accessories which are included in some other models on the market.
Pros: It is foldable and the range of the battery is OK for you to get to work and back.
Cons: This scooter is very expensive because you have to buy many parts on the side.
